Hi Kevin, I’m really happy for you that all of this is going so well. I can’t wait to see the film for myself. Your films captured the subculture that I grew-up in so well and parodied the types of characters that break away from the conventional media that I’ve always felt a strong connection to them. I’ve even been known to use scenes from your movies as examples of situations I’ve been in because they were such ubiquitous symbols of life in suburbia. As I’m getting older now myself, and watching people around me change and not-actually-mature, I look forward to seeing the latest installment (Clerks II) to see what insight you’ve had this time. Again, congrats to you and everyone else who contributed, and thanks for the Blog. The snippets that you share from your life have helped me through the last year immensely, your comic way of dealing with tough situations gives me hope that there really are reasonable, intelligent people out there worth their carbon.

In fact, I plan to break a long standing practise of not blowing away dough needlessly and and will even order my ticket on line for opening day to make sure I get a seat (and if the Gods smile upon me maybe I’ll even get a date!)

Comment by Kurry Fiddler — May 30, 2006 @ 8:42 pm
Having been a drug-dealing, Morris Day-worshipping, profanity-spewing, junkie-with-a-monkey since I first saw “Clerks”, I’ve eagerly awaited every View Askew flick like Whitney Houston waits for a new rock. Seeing the response to “Clerks 2″ makes me proud to call myself a Vulgarian! Go Kev, and I look forward to “Ranger Danger!”
Comment by Mark — May 30, 2006 @ 10:07 pm

Comment by Nichole — May 31, 2006 @ 12:42 pm
I have to say that I’m really proud to be a follower of your work. While I have to admit that I’m praying there will be a sequel to Mallrats and yet another scene of some obnoxious prick getting stink-palmed, I am incredibly proud of your achievement. I usually figure the crowd at Cannes to be a bunch of high-brow, “Remains of the Day” spouting, mega-blockbuster whores, but to know that they not only applauded but gave you a standing ovation for your work is mind-blowing. Congrats,Monsieur Smith.
Comment by Amy — May 31, 2006 @ 6:01 pm
I cannot wait to see this flick!! Way to go Kev! Congratulations to you and to everyone involved with the movie. I am sure it will become a favorite and join ALL of your other movies on my DVD shelves.

Comment by sean_in_theUK — June 8, 2006 @ 3:05 pm
Speechless is what I am. Just flat out speechless. One question though Mr. Smith. Twelve years ago do you think you could’ve imagined this? Debuting your sixth film at Cannes only to recieve an eight minute standing ovation because I don’t think even the most established of directors could imagine that now. Congratulations man, you’ve acheived something that almost no one else has managed to.
Comment by Fabio — June 8, 2006 @ 10:29 pm
Hi Kev.
I was one of the crazy fan which was right there that night in Cannes.
Thanks again for this unforgettable moment. I don’t have had the possibility to speak to you, but i’m really happy of having being right there for your triumph.
I’m impatient to see the movie again, especially the final apocalyptic scene or the crazy dancing scene. I wait for a date of released in France.
So “Bonsoir” from Paris and “merci beaucoup” for giving us so much fun.

This is going to be fckn awsome.
I want to see this movie as soon as it comes out, I just mailed the local theater out here (”The Movies” at Curacao), they said they didn’t have the rights yet or something but they where trying to get them.
I don’t know if anyone on this board can do anything about it, but if you can grant them rights for some reason, here’s the email adress of the theater director:
director@themoviescuracao.com
Just making sure I’ll see this movie as soon as it comes out…

OK, so, I’m not a pervert, I have a pretty normal sexual appetite, blah blah blah, but uh…I’m willing to pay _large_ amounts of money for a hi-def screen capture of rosario dawson doing that cunnilingus gesture. Kevin, I’m talking to you.
